About this coloring page
A spotted mother dinosaur rests beside her nest, keeping a careful eye on three smooth eggs. The rounded shapes and woven nest offer a medium challenge with lots of soft curves.
Some dinosaurs laid their eggs in nests on the ground, and fossils show that a few sat on them, much like birds do today. Talk about other animals that build nests: birds, turtles and even some fish. The eggs are smooth ovals that are easy for small hands, and the nest's woven edge gives older kids plenty of detail.
Fun factMaiasaura, whose name means good mother lizard, cared for its babies in nests.
- Color ideaColor the nest with crisscross lines of tan and brown to look like woven twigs.
- After coloringCount the eggs, then draw one more so there are four.
