About this coloring page
Three towers topped with waving flags rise above a smiling castle with a big arched door. Stone walls, windows and battlements break it into lots of separate spaces, so older kids can settle in for a while.
The notched tops along the castle walls are called battlements. Guards could stand behind the tall parts and look out through the gaps. Point out the shapes too: each tower is a tall cylinder topped with a cone roof, and the door is a rounded arch made of curved stones. Kids can color the bushes at the bottom in different greens.
Fun factMany castles were surrounded by a deep ditch filled with water, called a moat, to keep enemies away.
- Color ideaColor the walls light gray stone, the roofs deep blue or purple, and give each flag a different bright color.
