About this coloring page
Riding high on a big smiling whale, this mermaid waves her tail in the air. The whale's huge, smooth body balances the mermaid's details, a medium-level page.
Whales live in the sea, but they are mammals, just like people, dogs and cats. That means they breathe air, and mothers feed their babies milk. Can your child think of other animals that live in water but breathe air, like seals or dolphins? The whale's big smooth body is a perfect place to try long, even crayon strokes.
Fun factThe blue whale is the largest animal that has ever lived on Earth.
- Color ideaUse deep blue for the whale with a pale belly, and a pink or coral tail for the mermaid.
- After coloringImagine the whale sings a song as it swims: hum what it might sound like.
